This or That?

Hello Friends!  How's Thursday treating you?  I thought I'd do a little This or That today.

Beach or Mountains

Mountains all the way!  I do enjoy the beach, but I find that much water way too stressful with Kambree.  The mountains have a take you away kind of feeling and I really like that.

City or Country

Give me all the country!  I find a big city kind of intimidating.  I would rather meander down a dirt road than a city road any day.  I want the country but I need good WiFi and Amazon delivery.

Dogs or Cats

Well, this one is easy!  Dogs!!  We have four dogs and sometimes they make quite a mess, but we love all of them.  We have a dog door so three of our dogs can go in and out as they please.  This makes for a really big mess when it's wet outside.  We are definitely dog people!

Movies or Books

I want to be a reader, I really do.  I just have a hard time not falling asleep when I start reading.  I really enjoy going to the movie theater and having date night at home watching a movie is a favorite too.

Coffee or Tea

I am definitely more of a tea person than a coffee person.  I do enjoy a cup or two of coffee in the morning but during the day I am more of an iced tea drinker.  I enjoy mine with Stevia and a little lemon.

Burgers or Pizza

This is hard, but I would choose pizza.  We like to have pizza on Friday evenings but we rarely have burgers.  I like a good thin crust pizza.

Shop Online or In-Store

I definitely prefer shopping online!  I do enjoy shopping with David's stepmom, Norma, in store but we rarely get to do that.  When Kambree was younger she was an excellent shopper but now she's at that age where she's bored or trying to negotiate for me to buy her something constantly.

Fall or Summer

Fall!  I really enjoy summer but my very favorite time of the year is fall.  I enjoy the weather change and just go ahead and give me all the pumpkin decor and scents.  Fall feels like a reward for making it through summer and back-to-school. Fall is the calm before the busy holiday season starts, although we sure fill October with all the Fall Festivals.

What about you?  What is your preference.  I'll be back tomorrow with Friday Favorites!

What I'm Working On

Do you ever get all your stuff together and feel like a rock star?  I mean I'm a wife and a mom so stuff that makes me feel like a rock star is meal planning, grocery shopping, laundry washed AND put away, nighttime routine, etc.

Here's how I have been feeling lately.

What are we going to eat for dinner?  Last night my answer was cereal, is than an acceptable answer?  David really likes cereal and he's so easy that he thought it sounded great.  I did cook some soup on Saturday and I felt like there should have been a parade or something to honor my achievement.  I am working on having a meal plan and  cooking at least four nights a week.  David is a great leftover consumer so I don't need to cook every night.  I will feel so accomplished if I have a plan for the week.

I feel so fancy when I get a grocery pick-up order placed.  I feel like there is no one more boss than me.  Anyone else?  Just me?  That's OK, let me feel boss.  Driving into that parking lot and parking while someone loads my groceries and I can browse Instagram while I wait #winning .  This is me feeling all good about myself for getting groceries ordered.

Another area that I need to work on is our nighttime routine.  Kambree does not want to go to bed, but she desperately needs sleep.  One of my favorite podcasts is The Lazy Genius and this episode on bedtime schedules for kids really resonated with me.  I really appreciate the tip she gave about knowing the time that you need to be done and working backwards from there.  It's not rocket science but I needed that reminder.  Another thing that The Lazy Genius recommends is that if something throws the schedule off then something else has to go.  I could have a lot of leverage with the threat that our book time could be in trouble if she doesn't stop doing cartwheels or whatever it is at the time.

Let's face it, I am not rock star material, but I am capable of putting just a few systems in place that will make me feel less ragged at the end of every day.  These are just a few of the things that I'm working on right now.  While I might not be rock star material, I am already a super cute wife mom person and if having a good hair day were on my list then I would check that right off!

Thanks for reading today.  What are you working on?

I'm Back!

Hello friends!  Did anyone wonder where I was?  Y'all should be glad that you stayed away because I have had a stomach virus.

I started feeling poorly on Sunday evening and very soon I began to understand why.  My distress continued through Monday and thankfully it was a school holiday and Kambree was with her Grandma.  I didn't have to wake up and get her ready, so I let work know that I wouldn't be in and I went back to bed.  I started feeling better in the late evening.

Last night Kambree was laying with David and I got all settled with my laptop to write when Kambree walked in and told me that Dad was asleep and she needed me to lay with her.  So, I closed the laptop and got her to sleep.  It took her a very long time to get to sleep and she seemed very restless.  She had so much activity over the three day weekend that I think she was just so sad to see the weekend go.

I'm back in the office today and she's back at school.  It's always good to get back to a routine, isn't it?

I don't know what it is about this January but we have had a birthday party every weekend.  I'm not complaining, I enjoy taking Kambree to celebrate her friends.  We have been to Urban Air , Obstacle Warrior Kids , Kaufman Sk8 & Arcade , and this Saturday we'll be at an in home party with lots of fun.

I'll be back tomorrow with What's Up Wednesday.  Have a great Tuesday!

Friday Favorites - January 18, 2019

Hello Friends!  I'm coming at you today with a few favorites from this week.

I've felt in a bit of a fog this week but there are always things that brighten up my week.

One

I tried a  Jersey Mike's sandwich last Friday and I had another earlier this week.  It is so good.  I had a Jersey Shores Favorite which has provolone, ham, and cappacuolo.  The oil, vinegar, and spices that they put on the sandwiches is really fresh tasting.  I thought that this was a treat that I could only enjoy at work but I was happy to learn there is one near me.

Two

Meeting David for a mid-week dinner out was a sure favorite.  We met at El Fenix on Wednesday evening.  We eat at home a lot and going out to eat is something that I really enjoy.  David would prefer to eat at home most always.  Just the two of us sitting and talking doesn't happen near enough when there is a six year old in our house.

Three

Yesterday me and David surprised Kambree and showed up to sit with her at lunch time.  She chose two friends to join us - although I'm not sure she was supposed to.  I only snapped this horrible picture but you get the idea.  We visited with these three cuties while they ate their lunch.  They were cracking up because David kept switching the first letters of their names and they thought that he was hilarious.  I'm telling you these girls were hungry!

Four

I've been using this Lavender & Rosemary Hydrating Bar Soap from Grove Collaborative and it feels so refreshing on my face.  It's not drying at all and it leaves my face feeling very clean.
Five

This blog post Curly Hair Routine by Simply Rebekah has really had me thinking about wearing my hair naturally curly more often but doing it with some control.  Usually if I wear my hair curly it's because I took absolutely no time to do anything with my hair.  She listed some very affordable products and gave good detail about how she uses them.  I would recommend my curly hair friends to read this post.  She also references this Sorta Awesome podcast episode that she co-hosted where they talk all about curly hair.

That wraps up Friday Favorites this week.  We are expecting a very cold weekend and I'm planning to make some soup and hopefully have a lot of time at home.  See y'all next week!
